The founder of Real Implants is a longstanding orthopaedic surgeon who has been in the field for more than 30 years. He has a particular interest in solutions for remotely understanding the healing status of fractures of bone, reducing the need for hospital visits and potentially enabling rehabilitation to start sooner.

To explore the use of optical monitoring to assess the repair of fractures that typically utilise titanium alloy implants and to communicate wirelessly with the external environment, allowing for real time, remote monitoring of a healing fracture once it has been fixed with a ‘smart’ implant.
