SMART Photonics B.V., located in Eindhoven, is a pure-play foundry for III-V photonics semiconductors. Started March 2012 as a spin-out of Philips, SMART Photonics is now located at the campus of TU Eindhoven, and offers its customers an expert team with a long history and a proven track record in InP R&D and production. The team consists of former employees of both Philips Photonics Lab and TU Eindhoven with a broad experience in epitaxy (including regrowth), processing, test & measurement and quality. Examples of products developed for customers include: EML, (high power) DFB lasers, integrated transmitters and receivers for FTTH.

SMART Photonics has access to a fully equipped and dedicated III-V clean room. SMART Photonics offers access to the generic platform developed at COBRA – TU Eindhoven. This platform offers a generic process for InP based Photonic Integrated circuits.
